Things my mind never told me

My doctor at The Institute of Living is very quirky. She always seems very nervous and jittery. But she makes me laugh and makes me feel like we’re going to get through this together somehow and that she’ll be there every step of the way. I like that. She just has that type of personality where you can’t help but to feel awkwardly comfortable around her. Oh and I think her favorite color is purple. She’s always sporting a purple sweater or socks and stuff like that. I mean, she’s purple from her glasses down to the phone cord plugged into her computer.

Anyways, Mark Twain. She quoted him during one of my more intensive sessions yesterday. We were sitting in a room just down the hall from her office. It was quiet for a few minutes and she was trying to get me to relax. We sat there and she turned to me after a while and said “You know, I think it was Mark Twain that said ‘I am an old man and I have known many troubles…most of which have never happened’”. I thought about it and I knew that she was trying to make me see that I’m not the only one with hardships and that she will help me pull through this. I just couldn’t help thinking…

I think this i one of the funniest commercials I’ve seen in a while! The guy at the end makes me hysterical every single time!

I live my life vicariously through her…

Sometimes when I have alot of things on my mind or if I’m upset or just plain bored I’ll type random things into google search. Tonight’s agenda: “Cute Puppies”. This picture made me laugh hysterically. Hoping this will put a smile on your face, too.

So, I had my first appointment at the Institute of Living today and oh was it long and agonizing. Going over all my faults and flaws to a perfect stranger. Just what I’d like my ideal Monday to encompass.

Needless to say I was nervous and scared and…well, just plain didn’t want to go. After I got over my near panic attack, I walked through the door and couldn’t have been met by nicer people. There’s the “good” I’ve been waiting for. The first woman I met with, Kristen I believe her name was, is in her fellowship program for psychology. She had snakes in her office. Fun fact. At least that lightened the mood. Next, Dr. Moore, very funny and very nice. I’ll be seeing her for the rest of my time at the IOL.

So, once we get this ball rolling, hopefully things will start changing for the better.

Moral of this story: I’m not fearful of snakes but fearful of myself. What a horrible internal confliction, in lamens terms…

Today begins my new life. So, I embark on a journey to better myself. Slightly against my will? Hmmm. Well in about 12 hours I will start my “treatment” at the Institute of Living. Buttering up the name of the facility to make us crazies seem…less crazy? Perhaps. It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally here. And i have mixed feelings about it. But I figure, I have everything to gain and still everything to lose. So why not gain while we’re at it. As only a select few of you know, I’ve been dealing with my fair share of, let’s say…psychiatric complications? Yeah, we’ll say that. And for those of you that don’t know, we’ll keep it on a need to know basis only as you follow me in my journey. Don’t worry about it…

So, I will try to welcome this new light into my life with open arms. Just as long as it doesn’t touch me.

Wow! Just saw this video from today’s Jets vs. Dolphins game. Apparently one of the Jet’s coaches tripped Miami player Nolan Carroll on purpose. It’s obvious in this clip. I may not like either of these teams but that’s just a very low, pathetic thing to do…

This clip is from Tosh.0! Daniel Tosh, in my opinion, is clearly one of the funniest people on the planet. This video, from season 2 of his show, is one of my favorites. Even though it looks pretty painful, the comedic genius that is Daniel Tosh makes it absolutely hysterical. You’ve got to wonder what kind of weather these people were navigating through…

I saw this video on “Most Shocking” on truTV today! Not the actual clip from the show but a really amazing video none the less! You can fast foward through the description. Basically this cop get called to a train derailment. He gets on scene and notices a dense fog creeping up on him & he starts smelling some sort of chemical smell. The rest is self explanatory…I suggest watching the entire thing. It starts getting really good near the 6:30 mark!
